Getting it's shape

Last week I started to work on my next project – short animation for kids and some adults.
Currently I'm working on the background image and the main character's design for the first scene.

Abstraction or realism?

Yesterday I red a very interesting article about illustration for children. The author writes about kids' perceiving of abstract forms and realistic drawings and she proves that kids (older than 5 years) prefer abstraction as it's more entertaining for them. As an example the author shows images drown by Květa Pacowska, a multi awards winning Czech illustrator.

Usually the parents choose books for their youngest kids, but maybe, after reading this article, you will start to ask them about their opinion instead? :)

More here (in Polish).

Brites

Last Saturday I helped with the workshop for kids. The children were asked about creating some characters (called Brites) similar to these used in the short animation Turn it off completed recently by my friends. The result was pretty interesting and the children had a great fun.

Have a look at the website www.turnitoff.eu for more details about the project.

The animation has been screened in the Science Gallery; it's still ON, so walk by on your way home this week :)

Things that make our life easier and funnier

Look at this great collection. I'm sure you would like to have some of these items, but unfortunately I don't know their source...

Isn't it sweet? ;)

In today's Metro I read a short note:

Burglar says sorry
A burglar who stole games and DVD's from a house in Norwich, UK, returned the haul a day later with an apology. The stolen items reappeared with a note saying, 'sorry for taking this stuff – very, very drunk and stupid'.
